I use Photoshop Camera Raw filter, but when I try to follow this tutorial, I don’t find the toolbar at the top so that I can grab the white eyedropper tool. Where is the toolbar now? AND there is no checkbox at the bottom for resetting sliders automatically. Why?

Thanks so much for shortening the learning curve, Colin!!!

  4. Cricri on March 14, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I knew none of them. Now I know all of them. Question is: how many will I remember tomorrow? No worries, I bookmarked your tut. By the way, those images are gorgeous. Not sure if they are stock, but if so, please link to them so I can get a couple I really like. Thank you.

    Thank you friend,
for the kind of work I do, the "reset sliders automatically" constantly on, was a pain in the neck,
and I don’t saw that I could turn it of. 🙂

    once more thank you.

Well done, as always, Kiwi Colin. I have found the recent vids excellent. Thanks again.

How do we set our ‘previous settings’ as the default so we don’t have to keep clicking to use Previous Settings? I seem to be missing it in all of the verbiage. I did get it but the Eye Ball isn’t highlighted and it won’t ‘Reset’. I know it sounds like we’re all blaming you, I’m just trying to work with a broken UI.

  8. Behnam Bagherzadeh on March 14, 2021 at 11:12 pm

I used mouse scroll to zoom in or out in camera raw but in New version I can’t. How to make it like before? By the way ,zoom with scroll still work in photoshop

  14. DethronerX on March 14, 2021 at 11:17 pm

How do i use Camera Raw menu on a video in After Effects and how do I import my saved xmp presets there?

  15. Aquario Amico on March 14, 2021 at 11:20 pm

Thanks for the tips. I’m looking Adjustment Brush feather control. Where did it go? With the June update it looks like the feather stays the same proportional to the size of the brush. How do I get more or less feather if that is what I want to have?

  18. CONSTANTINOS SAVVA on March 14, 2021 at 11:22 pm

Hi from Cyprus . Am a wedding photographer and i use camera raw from 2007. Work good the new update but the biggest problems is when you open a lot photos you cant make custom size like before and you cant move to the next photo with arrows keys when you use crop tool like before so i need x10 times to finish my projects. Anyone know something how i can fix ?

  22. Eigil Skovgaard on March 14, 2021 at 11:33 pm

    Hi Colin.
I really miss a key or a button to turn the effect of the active mask off and on. Like the function of the eye symbol at the top of each tool.
If this option exists – what is the short-key – or where is the button?
The only way I can find is the "go back arrow" with the text "Reset local correction channels". It resets the active mask and thus hides the effect. But then I have to re-do with Ctrl-Z (in Win). I think this reset-recover action feels more like a work around than a handy feature.
I also miss an option to toggle between the existing mask buttons when the image is zoomed in and the button for the mask you want to edit is outside the image.

  25. Lyle Stavast on March 14, 2021 at 11:36 pm

    Good stuff !

  26. Ash Mills on March 14, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Thanks for the video. Was hoping for a hidden "make it usable like the old version" button. I have reverted to the previous version till they fix this, it is way too slow in comparison. Really hope they fix it soon, because local hue/sat is handy.

  27. Richard Beresford on March 14, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Didn’t know about the eyes and the dots indicating that a panel of filter had been used.
The option to switch to Lightroom style zooming and panning is good but what I really, really miss in this version is the ability to double-click on the hand icon to zoom to fit to screen. That was such a time-saver and it seems to have disappeared with this version. Or is it just turned off by default and I simply haven’t found how to turn it on again?

  28. Dale Hardin on March 14, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Still having trouble with one issue. When using brush, how do I reset adjustments so that I can use a new brush? The reset has been changed and I can’t find it.

  29. youser juarez on March 14, 2021 at 11:41 pm

muchas cosas que porque diablos no las ponen afuera de camara raw y otro poco inesesarias que de todos modos salen mejor y mas seguro si las hacemos manual.

I spent some time yesterday (Tuesday) editing photos in lightroom classic and in Photoshop and i got to see the new update for the first time, but it was so new that I have to go back and take another look so everything you showed me was new to me!

  41. Carl Kristensen on March 14, 2021 at 11:55 pm

As allways – nice stuff. I knew 4 of them – but now I know all of them. Thank You.

  42. Davideographer on March 14, 2021 at 11:56 pm

Great video! Though I wish Adobe would’ve focused their efforts on new sliders and features instead of trying to convert ACR into a Lightroom clone. Layout changes are always bound to introduce learning curves, especially for those of us whose workflow gravitates around Photoshop rather than Lightroom.

  43. Peter Betts on March 14, 2021 at 11:56 pm

Thanks so much Colin ..I am learning so much about Camera RAW ..something I have only been using a fraction of what was available in the past ..Loving my new results

  44. meyrick griffith-jones on March 14, 2021 at 11:57 pm

It has to be said that most of the "new" features were already available in past versions as short cuts. Switch to eraser – alt and same size eraser for example. However, change brush size with scroll wheel is useful, though not really any quicker than the old right click and drag L/R. Hue – less so: not something one uses a lot and in PS with a layer mask the selection will be more accurate mostly.

I reckon the best way to use the rest brush/radial filter/gradient is to leave it checked OFF. If one wants a new fresh brush the shortcut Ctrl Alt R will reset – rather than go to the bottom of the panel (the checkbox needs to be at the top). If one wants to use the same brush on a different patch then N will just give you a new brush without resetting.
I very much regret the loss of the little +/- Icons, which gave you a reset and +/- 1/2 stop on the selected channel, but selecting the value box and using the Shift up/down arrow (or up and down arrows alone for small adjustments) is OK. Saves using the sliders which is very slow – the sliders are used very rarely. Does anyone use them much?

The vertical tabs make for a very cluttered workspace, compared with the old row of tabs. Now one is scrolling up and down, which you never had to do before, and the whole panels worth of features is no longer always there, unless you press the little expansion arrow, and even then you cant always see all the adjustments without scrolling, which makes it slow and clunky. Before with the row of edt tabs geting at anything was just a one click operation. The eyeball feature was always there – P toggled.
I suppose one can say one or two features and a lot of extra hassle?

Thanks for doing ACR content, doesn’t get enough love

  46. Paul Burdett on March 14, 2021 at 11:59 pm

Thank you for the tips! The only thing I dislike is the new zoom. I much prefer to draw a marquee around the image to zoom to my preferred area. Also, sometimes when i zoom in it goes to 100% which is what I prefer…other times it zooms in to say 108%…not sure why. Global zoom setting on or off? Not sure what this means? Can you help? Thank you.

i hate the new camera raw…how do i go back to old camera raw?

  48. Sam Sarg Dong on March 15, 2021 at 12:01 am

Hi,thanks for the tips.Anyway,I preferred the previous version Interface.

Now the icons and the fonts aren’t big enough to read them properly and besides there is no way to increase the size, something that doesn’t happen in Bridge,Lightroom and Photoshop.

  49. King Tut on March 15, 2021 at 12:02 am

what happened to Luminance? I cannot find it in this version…
