Apple's new "M1" Mac computers in 11 minutes

Apple announced their new Mac computers powered by their own, Apple-designed processors today. All of Apple’s computers have used Intel processors for more than a decade, but the company is transitioning to “M1” chips, an 8-core CPU/GPU combo that is based on the chips found in their iPhones and iPads. Apple is claiming huge speed increases for their M1 Macs, which we’ll need to try for ourselves.

I wish they could just talk normal. The same information without the advertiser’s voice pls.
I am really interested but at some point I had to turn it off. Its just too aggravating.
Maybe I am not attuned enough to american advertisement, as I am european.

    GPU

    PS4 : 1.84 teraflops
    M1 : 2.6 teraflops

Should effectively be able to play games on par with a standard PS4?

apple M1 is integrating ram in SOC. No wonder it is fast. But they will never be able to beat amd and Nvidia who have years of experience in GPU.

  26. N nOni on February 19, 2021 at 10:30 pm

No dedicated GPU and you can’t upgrade any hardware like your HDD space or RAM, this is only useful for people who only do web browsing and small office tasks. not to forget not all the applications of Intel is going to work with this one, it’s more like playing PS2 game on PC emulator since its using ARM CPU and not x86. makes you wonder who people only follow the trends "youtubers" these days. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad product but they should make it modular so you can add HDD or RAM later at least for $600 top.

  27. Zortec on February 19, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Can’t wait to play Crysis on this at over 9000 fps!!!

  36. BlindBison on February 19, 2021 at 10:49 pm

TL;DR: Exceptional power efficiency and thermals, but if you want to play games or get as much raw power as you can at a given price point, then x86 with a dedicated GPU is still the way to go. Pretty much as expected then.

Big Sur sux, I deleted it off my laptop & re-installed the old IOS Catalina, don’t rush to buy anything new with Apple until they fix all the glitchy bugs, Apple lost their mojo a long time ago…..horrible company!

  42. Brad Justinen on February 19, 2021 at 10:56 pm

I grew up a hardcore Mac user but honestly they spend too much time farting into wine glasses these days. M1 is about one thing. Profit.

  43. strife on February 19, 2021 at 10:57 pm

I wanna see how this renders and compiles programs. They claim it’s better than an x86 now I want to see it .
