Question from complete camera n00b, please help: I am buying a camera but I don’t know what. I have figured out mirrorless is the way to go, but that’s it. I can’t educate myself on all the specs when I’m not a camera nerd, I just want it to do the job. What job?
    1) I want to film for a YouTube channel and make some decent "cinematography" with it.
    2) I want to photograph products (sculptures) for selling.
    3) My budget is low since I’m new to this, ~$500-1000.

Also I really want to boycott the big brands like Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Fujifilm and Sony for reasons I won’t go into here and I won’t answer questions about, and that leaves mostly Panasonic/Lumix, Pentax, Sigma and Leica. Advice would be welcome.

Great video man! I’ve been driving myself crazy thinking about which camera to buy! I currently have a canon rebel t2i that I got back in 2010, and I STILL get compliments for how great it looks, but I’m severely limited by how long it can shoot before the sensor needs to cool (only 15 mins in 1080p) but like you, I LOVE the color you get out of canon. It feels like the most accurate to life right out the box. but I can’t lie, the sony cameras, specifically the a6400, a73, and (if I had the money but I totally don’t think I can justify it) a7s 3.

I plan to use it to do fun camera shoots, hook it up to my computer for livestreaming, and potentially family trips and youtube videos/skits. I feel like the a73 is probably my best bet for that, but the flexibility of being able to shoot in 240fps has me super interested in what can be done with that! Would you recommend I stick with canon if I like those colors? I usually just edit in final cut x

Totally biased and commercialized video about few cameras., not updated I guess… and only good for beginners or people that is trying to expend money without the knowledge in mirrorless cameras., call it GENERAL NOTIONS IN “SOME” CAMERAS…FOR DUMMIES.

Immensely helpful! We run a landscape construction company near the beach and are looking for a new, mirrorless camera. Our D3000 w/sigma wide-angle lens is outdated so we’re looking for something new to shoot landscapes. A friend recommended mirrorless. Homes are close together around here so wide-angle really helped to capture lengthy sideyards from up close. We don’t shoot video and don’t prefer tripods but crisp color and width/depth are really key. Photography is a secondary part to our process so simplicity is a blessing. Any advice you’d give to a landscape designer for a camera to help showcase their work? Thanks in advance!

Do you think about canon Eos Rp?

  20. pitamber pandey on March 17, 2021 at 8:56 pm

Where is Nikon Z6??? Have you ever heard anything about Nikon?? You are joking, right??

  21. Henderson Brinkley on March 17, 2021 at 8:57 pm

Great content but I found it difficult to keep up with which camera you were talking about at any given time. So, sadly to say, I could not finish the video. Would you consider placing the name of the current camera being reviewed in a corner of the video? That would make it easier for me to follow along. Thanks. I enjoyed what I did watch.

  22. Mike Ogden on March 17, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Nikon Z6 & Z7 have been around almost 2 years and you dont even mention Nikon, but spend plenty of time on under performing Fuji. Canon mirrorless and not Panasonic or Pentax?
We all have our bias i supose but Canon camera bodies most of them feel like junk because well if it walks like a duck….

  23. rm yr on March 17, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Wow, nothing to talk about z6 or z7

Thanks for the video! I just sold my Canon 60D with a set of great lenses because I got tired of the heavy weight having to carry around while traveling. Looking at the Sony A7 III because it is full frame, but maybe Fuji xt4? Do mostly fashion and travel photography… what do you recommend? Thanks again 🙂

If go with the Sony A7 iii what lens would you recommend to a beginner? I’m asking about it cause you said it’s good in low light situations and that’d be good for me. Primarily be taking landscape and wildlife pictures.

@techthroughtheless, One of the best videos, I’ve seen on YouTube regarding mirrorless cameras. I’ve new to photography and have always been really interested in photography and even want to do it professionally, I’m really confused about which camera to go for, mirror or mirrorless, sony or canon, with having a budget on mind not really sure which one to go for. Can you please suggest?

  44. Nick Gunnare on March 17, 2021 at 9:24 pm

What kind of stabilization cage were you saying is about $100?

  45. Pranesh Mahadhevan on March 17, 2021 at 9:25 pm

I am a travel photographer, not by any means a professional, I do something entirely different for a living, but I love photography ( I’m just a beginner when it comes to video). I have owned the canon 80D and 6D mark2 in the past. Looking to switch to the mirrorless world, the one camera that caught my eye was of course the a7iii. The one thing I don’t like about this camera is the screen, its such a bad low reso screen, compared to the EOS R (which is one of my other considerations). So my question for you is, when does this actually become a drawback ? one possible situation I can think of is when I try to use the screen for locking focus like in the case of astrophotography (but I don’t do astro everyday, so thats fine i guess). when else do you think this screen would be an actual problem?

As for the color science, being a canon user I surely do know what you’re talking about, but I guess I’ve convinced myself that’s its all just perspective, I have used both my 6D mark 2 and a7iii side by side, and IMO both gave me good colors xD

Now if you ask me why I wouldn’t buy the EOS R eventhough it has the fantastic 5D mark iv sensor, here’s why, there’s no joystick to toggle focus, one thing that my 6d mark 2 didnt have and something that I have always wanted on my camera. Two, this camera has a very low fps in continuous tracking, just horrible, even a 900$ camera would give me more fps, haha..
