Best Tech of 2021 | Must-have gadgets of the year

Over the course of 2021, the editorial staff here at Digital Trends tested and reviewed hundreds of products in dozens of different categories. We fiddled with folding phones, gazed into gigantic gaming monitors, and even tested some titanic TVs that take up an entire wall. Some of these products were duds, and others knocked our socks off. So, as the year draws to a close, we wanted to look back and recap some of the highlights. Without further ado, here are our personal favorite tech products from 2021. Enjoy!

If these are the must have gadgets of the year the Bose cans should not be on the list. Very subjective listing by a man in love with Bose. The Sony WH1000-XM4 is the best headset of the year.

Must-have gadgets? I found no use of any of the products recommended in this video except maybe the robotic vacuum cleaner.

  6. Valk-Kilmer on January 1, 2022 at 2:28 am

Something is wrong with the frame rate of this video. It seems to be running at a lower frame rate and doesn’t look smooth.

Stumbled on this channel on the search for info on the A90J and the Sony HT-A9

    Now I’m hooked!

Not surprised the Samsung phone made the list. It was highly anticipated – despite the mishaps it had in the beginning.

  9. Justin Ballew on January 1, 2022 at 2:33 am

Besides the LG C1 this is a pretty lackluster list.

  10. Cesar Ornelas on January 1, 2022 at 2:34 am

Sony X90J and OnePlus Buds Pro!

Can’t imagine Controller consider as a “Must have tech” when most people don’t have a problem with Standard controller this day

My favorite piece of tech in 2021 was the hammer.

The favourite tech i bought this year are the 11” M1 iPad Pro (my first ipad), iPhone 13 pro (replacing my 3 yo XR) and Dyson V12 Detect (i believe it’s known as V15 in the US). I also own the Sony WF-1000XM4 and while it’s good, not the top of my favourite tech. Now I’m looking at 55” LG C1 as the price has lowered quite a lot

  18. Matthew Floyd on January 1, 2022 at 2:42 am

But my choice would be the dji mini 2

  19. ColtsFan4Life 35 on January 1, 2022 at 2:45 am

I bought a Quest 2 earlier this year. Yeah I know it came out in 2020 but upon release I couldn’t justify buying one. There are more games and apps I’m interested in which helped make my purchasing decision easier. I really like it and I’m excited for the future of vr

  28. Christopher Johnson on January 1, 2022 at 3:00 am

Definitely covered different aspects of technology and products/ use cases I did not consider. Thanks.

  29. SG Rapness on January 1, 2022 at 3:01 am

I don’t understand why someone would buy a pair of headphones when there are other ones that sound better and have more features for the same price. I get it if you have a budget you can’t go over, but if that’s not a consideration, why? Also, Kobo has e-readers just as good as a Kindle. I’m not sure about the price differences though.

  30. Craig Osterberg on January 1, 2022 at 3:04 am

    Apple iPad Pro

  31. Caleb Denison on January 1, 2022 at 3:13 am

Never thought a robot vac would end up being my favorite piece of tech this year. Brought one home and it is NEVER LEAVING! What’s your favorite piece of tech this year?

  32. Bryan MacDonald on January 1, 2022 at 3:14 am

The fact that your headphone guy has already penciled in the ‘Bose 55s’ for a future award speaks to the open-mindedness that went into the 45s pick (thanks to the cheap materials and predictable buttons). This choice didn’t belong in the same video.

  33. Albert Davenport on January 1, 2022 at 3:18 am

    LG C1 FTW!!!
