The elephant in the room is the knowledge that this drone is a crash magnet.

Secondly it has very little perks seen on other DJI drones. No intelligent flight modes.

Way too much money for way too few features. Imho only a very few will like this

  2. Ryder Studios on December 19, 2021 at 11:34 pm

Thanks for the honest review! I feel you’ve been the most honest about it. That tip for hand catching, has to be the best tip ever! I don’t hand catch so I can see people really appreciating that tip. I haven’t been out flying since the new update and can’t wait to test it out myself.

  3. Brian Bracher on December 19, 2021 at 11:35 pm

Totally agree with all your comments, we are nowhere near the expected capabilities. Also, as a jobbing professional, I do use the intelligent flight modes as they can be very good and will help me save time on site, and time is money!

  4. Dimo Zhelevski on December 19, 2021 at 11:35 pm

One of the most insightful videos about Mavic 3 I have watched so far! Thank you for sharing all that information with us! It is really appreciated! Happy hollidays!

  5. Nola Drone life_ on December 19, 2021 at 11:36 pm

I agree with the lack of transparency.I knew the drone would be lacking certain features and there is almost always bugs to work out. It’s their refusal to publicly address or they are doing to rectify customer concerns has been my number #1 complaint about how Dji does business.

  6. Jason Joseph on December 19, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Excellent honest review, you echoed my sentiments exactly. The Mavic 3 was released in its unfinished state to allow DJI to capitalize on Q4 holiday sales and to nullify any possible market share expansion Autel may have gained with the EVO Nano release.I think people who are not deriving revenue from their drones should wait until the Mavic 3 has all the features available. When you are an actual beta tester you are either being paid or you get the product that you are beta testing at a reduced price or for free. When people paid full price for an unfinished product they are early adopters or ginny pigs.

I wanted to ask are you in the united states because there’s this news saying that the USA is about to completely ban stop all sale of DJI product because of certain security risk from China. USA have already ban quite a few Chinese made product. The governments have already made the final rules of these Chinese product and waiting for the president to sign the agreement. If the president does sign that agreement than DJI will disappear from the USA. If you are able can you look into this and maybe make some video on this.

  8. Drone Fate on December 19, 2021 at 11:39 pm

Well explained Mike! For the amount we’re paying we need to have more options for sure! It’s kinda annoying though that those of us who bough it early won’t get the RC Pro with the fly more combo /:

  9. Sabino Fernandes on December 19, 2021 at 11:40 pm

I was just flying my M3. This thing is behaving really bad. While flying forward it looks like it’s drunk twitching left to right, and increasing altitude as I fly forward with no stick input on the left stick. This is very concerning, what’s going on with DJI ?

  10. Homer on December 19, 2021 at 11:40 pm

Good video. I would rather have the mavic 3 now, because I don’t use the intelligent flight modes anyway. I ordered mine the day it came out, and the update is already here. Only one month later. The limitations on them not working on 5.1k, and dlog, might be a processor issue.

  11. 1 flyjc on December 19, 2021 at 11:45 pm

Hey man, I totally agree with you. These companies are using you guys to do their work for free free free. Start business move, don’t you think?

  12. Petru B. on December 19, 2021 at 11:46 pm

Spending so much just to shoot standard is crazy

  13. Kaleb Woolgar on December 19, 2021 at 11:48 pm

It makes sense when it’s not in sport mode that you can’t catch it it’s in a more sensitive mode and more conscious so that’s why you can’t land it in your hands in sport mode it’s more relaxed and quicker with less response time that’s why it’s easier to catch it in your hand because it’s not going to react as quick more control in sport mode caught me if I’m wrong

  14. nicholas disabatino on December 19, 2021 at 11:50 pm

The wobbling is caused by the very sensitive full directional sensor. I turn it n C mode with brakes off I prefer C mode because it is easier to land.

  15. aeroscopic on December 19, 2021 at 11:50 pm

About the DLOG issue, I thought there was an option in the Fly app to enable a similar “preview” lut onscreen while recording DLOG?

  16. Ron Brown on December 19, 2021 at 11:52 pm

I know the Air 2S didn’t have DLOG LUT when it first launched, and it might not have been there day on the Mavic 2 Pro. So hopefully it arrives for the Mavic 3 on the January firmware upgrade. And agree with you that I really miss it on the Mavic 3. Great review, and thanks for sharing.

  17. JSS2 on December 19, 2021 at 11:53 pm

I hope you understand that all the problems yiur having isn’t soo for everybody else. But I’m sorry to here you have issues.i do agree that we should have a choice to be beta testers or not . But hopefully there will be some awesome firmware updates that will make it worth the while.

  18. Marcel IJzerman on December 19, 2021 at 11:53 pm

You can handcatch the drone by placing your hand 50cm below the drone and pull down the stick, it then waits a few seconds and comes down, for me this works perfectly fine. In any mode with obstacle avoidance turned on.

  19. Lyn Smith on December 19, 2021 at 11:56 pm

Good video and your thoughts on the Mavic 3 Mike

  20. Michael DeHart on December 19, 2021 at 11:56 pm

Microsoft, from the beginning, started the practice of releasing products before they were ready in order to be seen as constantly providing new products. Apple does the same thing. Now it seems to be the practice in just about all the tech industries. You’re right. We pay them to beta test products and provide the feedback they don’t have to pay engineers and researchers for.

  21. laserraptor on December 19, 2021 at 11:57 pm

It has 360 obstacle avoidance. Of course it will go out of the way when the sensors are turned on and you are jumping around next to it. Press land.

  22. Patrick Guerrisi on December 19, 2021 at 11:59 pm

6:20 that is TERRIBLE @DJI – ( that would cut up your face that kind of landing in your hand

  23. Willie Bob Smith on December 19, 2021 at 11:59 pm

Of course hand catching won’t work with APAS (Avoid) enabled! It creates a bubble around the drone and will move away from anything that gets to close. That is exactly why it was behaving like you described/showed. Change the OA setting to Brake and it will behave 100% like every other DJI drone! Very easy to hand catch.

  24. Danny Fyffe on December 20, 2021 at 12:01 am

You complain about being a beta tester and admit it is ALWAYS this way, yet you keep buying and keep supporting them. You want it to change, stop buying and supporting that company. This is how it is easy to see the video is not completely candid.

  25. The M and R on December 20, 2021 at 12:03 am

In 0:45 where three images are compared, the mavic-3 was showing most blur. And this is main talking point in most discussion groups. Can this blur be corrected in post, so that the image is as clear and sharp as Air-2S ? Or is this an aperture issue (F2.8) in that picture ?

  26. Eddie Nunez on December 20, 2021 at 12:03 am

I noticed you haven’t accepted my delivery yet of the mavic 3 Cine…… you are not missing out on much. Great update Mike. I agree with you on all the points you’ve made.

  27. Awesomein360 aka Tiago Wolf on December 20, 2021 at 12:04 am

They keep lying about the flight autonomy

  28. Family of Tech on December 20, 2021 at 12:06 am

Very good video and straight to the point! I had the Mavic 3 in my shopping cart but decided to watch this video before buying it. I think I will wait a little bit longer before buying this drone ! Cheers !

  29. Joseph Savage on December 20, 2021 at 12:08 am

    Great review and footage.
What framerate do you find yourself using most often on the mavic 3? Your footage looks super smooth.

  30. Dynamo55b on December 20, 2021 at 12:11 am

Spot on analysis…. Thank you for your efforts

  31. Bill14886 on December 20, 2021 at 12:12 am

I’ll wait and see if it will come with the pro controller with one battery, then link the new controller to my air 2 s and maybe sell the Pro 3 or just buy 2 more batteries for it and have 2 awesome drones.

  32. Richard Park on December 20, 2021 at 12:13 am

Hell, great video as usual. As for the drone’s jumpy behavior when trying to catch it with your hand, did you try changing the obstacle avoidance behavior from moving away to braking/stopping? That may work! Thank you.

  33. nicholas disabatino on December 20, 2021 at 12:13 am

35 minutes flight time is still much longer than most drones. Is the footage Croatia?

  34. Charles Hatmaker on December 20, 2021 at 12:14 am

    Good stuff

  35. Brym Stone on December 20, 2021 at 12:15 am

I wonder if the M3 suffers from the same issue as the Mini 2 given it’s the same controller; the "rc not connected to mobile" error.

  36. Bikoo A on December 20, 2021 at 12:16 am

Thank you so much for this info Mike! i’ll wait for the another FW update, also to get the Smart RC with Fly more combo and also D-Log limitation

  37. choppergirl on December 20, 2021 at 12:23 am

    I wouldn’t touch a plastic cinematic drone with a 10 foot pole.
If it’s not about hard core aerobatics, i don’t want it.

  38. Erik Coplin on December 20, 2021 at 12:25 am

I never have a problem hand catching. I turn off obstacle avoidance first, then grab from around 5′. Works every time. I’m with you on the recommendation for the RC Pro inclusion, but I’ll end up at some point buying one. Hopefully they’ll discount for us that bought early.

  39. Jack Bisson on December 20, 2021 at 12:26 am

    Same feelings exactly.

  40. Patrick Guerrisi on December 20, 2021 at 12:27 am

Hey Mike. The more feedback I see about this model the more I feel like waiting for another updated model. Is it all hype and over exaggerated or are they legitmate? The Fly app is crap compared to Go 4 app

  41. Zenon Zolek on December 20, 2021 at 12:27 am

As always, honest, and trustworthy. Thanks

  42. Oz Straya Panoramas on December 20, 2021 at 12:28 am

DJI released the M3 for Ka-Ching (give me your money) knowing it wasn’t ready for the consumer.

  43. Simeon Greenstein on December 20, 2021 at 12:30 am

Oh yeah, the Standard setting recommendation was much appreciated. Hopefully software will evolve and many problems will dissolve. Your analysis expedites improvement. On behalf of a grateful drone nation…thanks!

  44. Femi Omomo on December 20, 2021 at 12:30 am

The issue I have is that 3rd party software cannot work with this drone until DJI release the SDK kit which will allow 3rd party developers to increase the functionality of this drone. As an example DJI have only just released the SDK for the Mini2 and the Air 2s which is one year later!
If dJI released the SDK earlier the issues could be addressed by 3rd party software developers, or at least as a combined effort between both parties.

  45. sungyle on December 20, 2021 at 12:30 am

DJI targets the M3 pro-summers as “image creators”.

Back in the 60’s, we learned that one of Betty Crocker’s philosophy was to make the cake mix so easy that the consumers will always succeed so they will always come back and buy more.

I am sure DJI is well aware of this and want the ‘image creators’ to succeed each time, every time, effortlessly, without a struggle, let alone being cheesed off.

Waypoint flights mode is important because it is actually the repeatable flight plan; and no great pilots will fly anything without a flight plan.

For image creators, finding a location, a scene to film is very important, but waiting for or coming back another day for the proper lighting, the proper weather condition, time of day, the right season, are all even more important.

In addition to that, a waypoint flight is fully automatic, therefore, no jerky shots, no hesitations, no stop and go; … the resultant video is super smooth.

DJI already have waypoint intelligent flight mode in the Mavic Pro; Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom; Phantom 3,4 series and the inspire 1, so they really don’t have to re-write any codes.

I am sure DJI wants people to buy more DJI Mavic 3 drones.

It does not make sense that one will pay for a Tesla Model S and they took back the AWD. It does not make sense that the improved Mavic 3 does not have what made the Mavic 2 so successful. I bet you dollars to donuts that every director in any video business will buy a few Mavic 3’s if it allows them to do take 1, take 2, take 3 automatically.

In fact, I am certain that once they put Intelligent Waypoint 2.0 (or higher) in the Mavic 3, nobody else can sell more drones than DJI and they can easily sell a million of them.
