hm, this is nice but at 50$ a year, for anyone whos a little more tech savvy and feels like spending like 10-15$ more you can probably buy a hard disk drive for pretty cheap that is the same size as your boot drive and clone the boot drive to it and stuff it in a drawer somewhere for that rainy day when your files ran somewhere you didnt like….oh and the programs that do the clone are uasually free and fairly easy to use, personally i use clonezilla

Update 2020q3: Microsoft Onedrive have the same function(maybe), and they already have all your data anyway… Plus, unpacking and updating my very old C anti-statistical crypto UDF for that special text files and db entries like credit cards and passwords… Maybe the Crypting as a Service(CaaS) will become a new segment of business beyond Security Hard Rack (like old Symantec and Cisco).

I bet if you emailed something featuring key threat words and key US installations….The CIA and NSA would have a black van outside your house before lunchtime right! But nobody with the computing capability and authority to act, bothers to trace back things like Ransom Ware pirates to find the culprits and take action. Don’t tell me nothing can be done because they all come from India or something…Diplomatic pressure with some sincerity would force the relevant foreign powers to take these despicable swine out of action…long jail time and big fines mandated against those responsible. But instead….there is no gain for our bureaucrats, so they do nothing! Grrrrrrrr. Imagine how great it would feel sending a squad of heavies with baseball bats to the backstreet warehouse hacker base in country xxx then after the physical reparations, going after the goon that owns it with your lawyers and that country’s own prosecutors….a fantastic dream huh!

  22. Lock Bresnar on April 3, 2021 at 9:33 pm

I did this before. I was doing a complete wipe and wanted to see what would actually happen if you clicked on the lonely singles in your area on the ‘hub… or the hamster… idr now. Anywho, it’s a fun little experiment if you’re about to wipe everything.

  29. Jan Sturm on April 3, 2021 at 9:37 pm

I like that I got an Ad banner for McAfee right wehn he said Ransomware

  30. Edmon Uyan on April 3, 2021 at 9:40 pm

since you’re using a sponsored ad, you did not even tried the option of utilizing windows 10 defender’s advanced protection features. also, for the price, especially for enterprise office setups, have you tried using an edr? like cynet? it blocks behavioral attacks like ransomware.

this is where "Big ooof" started

  40. WarpFactor999 on April 3, 2021 at 9:48 pm

Hmmmm, or just run Ubuntu (or one of its flavors) for your OS and use the built-in "Disks" utility to make / restore images for FREE! And I dual boot with Windoz, and guess what! Ubuntu Disks works on Windoz partitions as well. Guess that’s why I’ve been using Ubuntu for 13 years…

  41. LBSi UK on April 3, 2021 at 9:49 pm

…or use Macrium Reflect to make a whole disk image, and keep that on a disk at your workplace or a friend’s house in case your house gets destroyed or something. Data center fires happen.
