Can we all just make Facebook disappear!

  14. heyou on May 10, 2021 at 11:21 pm

Anyone got a suggestion for audacity alternatives? I’m open to both more professional software, as well as bare bones cli options, as long as it is FOSS.

  15. Disk Horse on May 10, 2021 at 11:26 pm

Will Audacity™ ever be available on android?

    I don’t buy it.
It seems like a false flag.
The same people telling us we need the equivalent of the COVID19 lockdowns every two years to "combat" "global warming" also want us to stop using oil and also to completely control our cyber "security" infrastructure.

They also love to control who we feel our "enemies" are.

They get to kill multiple flocks of birds with one flick of a switch.

  22. Me & My Shadow on May 10, 2021 at 11:35 pm

    Apple Privacy in a nutshell
2 Steps forward 3 steps back

32:30 Really like really that’s such an audacity. *badum ts*
Honestly if they introduce that just uninstall audacity and either use a DAW software instead. Like LMMS or for audi cutting- sampling just use a linear video editor like KdenLive, OpenShot.

..or use Dark Audacity which I think isn’t even a direct fork.

A personal anecdote: I bought a Nespresso machine in the (non-U.S.) country where I live from the local Nespresso store. A few days later, I attempted to order coffee pods from their online store. I was contacted by telephone a couple hours later by an employee telling me that in order to process my order, I would have to send them an electronic copy of my passport or national ID document. I refused and tweeted a complaint to Nespresso Global. Nespresso Global informed me that “This information is necessary to identify you as a customer, this is a policy that is handled in all Nespresso stores including the online store”. Needless to say, my response was not particularly polite. I have instead sourced compatible pods from other sources. WTF is wrong with these people?!

  31. TamiDobi on May 10, 2021 at 11:44 pm

Credit card companies share your personal info & Tech companies bribe Govts to obtain your personal info….so privacy is BS!

  32. A M. on May 10, 2021 at 11:44 pm

It is literally impossible to actually monitor blood chemical concentration accurately through the skin using the current apple watch technology. Anything you consume that alters the surface characteristics of your skin, or any environment that does this, will render the readings gobbledegook. Even if you told a database what it was you ate every day and an AI learned from the data set, it would still be worthless.

  33. ms3bani on May 10, 2021 at 11:45 pm

Since law abiding citizens have nothing to hide, we can start by publishing every ACIC member personal text messages, emails, phone calls, and any other communication for everyone to see. since obviously they have nothing to hide. also, no more encrypted networks for banks or the government or australian military. all communication must be unencrypted plaintext.

  34. Johnn Q on May 10, 2021 at 11:46 pm

Just a suggestion, why don’t you offer detailed instructions/ebooks that are very detailed about specific topics.

  35. Steve C on May 10, 2021 at 11:47 pm

With regards to Audacity. We need to relax. They are being up front about it. They are opting you out by default. They aren’t going to claim to not do anything with the data if you turn the Telemetry off because they aren’t going to want to be sued. As long as they are up-front, you can truly opt out there is 0 issues.

  36. DavidFish on May 10, 2021 at 11:47 pm

New add-on for the ACIC, HTTPS-nowhere.

I don’t use google enough to justify needing 2SV. I don’t use their email and only have an account for watching YT (and apps til I can figure out what OS I want to replace stock android with).

My partner is a recovering alcoholic and is part of a few groups on his Facebook, and he routinely gets ads for Dan Murphy’s, Thirsty Camel, and other bottle shops. It’s just one of the reasons that I’ll never touch Facebook again even with a 10′ pole, and one of the driving factors for me to get him off it asap!
