240Hz is the sweetspot? are you joking? How many games will actually run at those framerates? How powerful the hardware in a laptop has to be to run those framerates? Imagine someone buying a 240Hz screen because you said so and then playing Cyberpunk and MS Flight Simulator lol. Lots of 144hz screens are color accurate, you just have to watch reviews, I don’t understand what’s the problem with that. Only true color professionals will need something better.
Not to mention you need very powerful CPU and RAM for that and laptop needs to run in Discrete graphics mode only, otherwise it won’t be able to reach such high framerates. Too many "ifs" are in here. 144Hz is the sweetspot today, not 240.

I’d have spent a word or two about the MUX or MUX-less configurations. Since you’re speaking of GAMING laptops. Other than that, good ‘guide’.

  6. Cass Melendez on May 14, 2021 at 10:39 pm

If you only play league or dota 2 … You just need a gtx 1650 or 1050 NOT rtx 2070 wt !!!!

  7. Jiahe Ai on May 14, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Undervolting? Dude… it’s being locked out by Intel for over a year now… where have you been all this time? Only a handful of laptops like HP Omen still support it out of the box, but even that one had it disabled for most of 2020. And in 11-th gen undervolting is disabled on hardware level.

    Hello There,
I urgently need to buy a laptop.
    Those are my needs :

I do alot of webinars, Live streaming and zoom call and also records video’s and edit them.

I Need to be able to connect my canon M50 that is connected to an Elgato capture card for my live streaming. I Need multiport options to connect everything

What would be a good laptop to buy? I am an Asus fan but i am also willing to look elsewhere. I am trying to not go over 2000$. If Less its fine with me.
Somebody just told me about this computer for 1800$ : ASUS ROG Strix G17 17.3" Gaming Laptop – Eclipse Grey (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H/1TB SSD/16GB RAM/RTX 3060)

What do you think?….. Any recommendations?

Thank you for your answer 🙂

  16. Ollie H on May 14, 2021 at 10:56 pm

Remember if a gpu can’t push your fps to 240 don’t buy that refresh rate screen.

Wanting nice graphics and smooth gameplay without having delays if I was using a controller as well. I’m new to all of this so I have no clue lol.
