    How nice of the ransomware group to add a "support" page to their scam.

    That is why I use my CHROMEBOOK to do general searches of the Internet, and to open up my emails. I use my Windows computer for off-line work, nothing more.

  18. g00gle minus on April 5, 2021 at 9:38 pm

    oof so windows defender has put the identifyer for viruses in the cloud instead of storing them on the pc so one can have access to them in offline mode… this seems counter intuitive, especially how fast detection is exept vs scarab, so those detection files in the cloud must be tiny… makes me wonder if microsoft is doing this on purpose to get people to be online at all times.

  22. Tyrion on April 5, 2021 at 9:41 pm

    Ransomware from 2017 just casually passes and a file from Crysis 3 is apparently a virus.

    I wonder how the hell Microsoft just keeps getting good performance and protection ratings in tests -_-
    Defender was SUPER noticeable on my i5-3330 system and still kinda is on my new Ryzen 3100 system

    What av software do you reckon

  25. Rajesh Nair on April 5, 2021 at 9:45 pm

    Default settings in windows defender does not protect against simplest ransom ware. You have to configure for max security but your system will become very slow. Under max security settings there are many problems. It won’t let even windows programs to run properly.

    Regarding Protected Folders: do you need to protect folders that are synchronized to Dropbox, Google and OneDrive (etc?). What would happen if such a folder were to get "ransomwared"?

    How do I clean a ransomware virus that is already severe and all applications and files cannot be opened ??

  41. PiotrK18 on April 5, 2021 at 10:02 pm

    @The PC Security Channel
    Oh, rly, no logs policy – interesting… Try do sth illegal and you’ll find out how they doesn’t store any logs when police or FBI knocks to your door… Everyone vpn provider stores logs but they only shares them only in cases of serious criminal activity like drugs selling, hacking ,etc… It doesn’t work this way especially when proviider has rented infrastructure in country like US where all providers are obligated by law to sore logs form internet activity, so they can’t because they can has serious troubles with law if they refuse to share logs..

    the windows tasks I do I still do on windows 7, question about windows 10.. This is the first I’m hearing about the protected folder feature of win10, can you add specific directories to this feature, and having this feature enabled what must you do to make intended changes to the contents, input a password periodically?
